Foreign National & ITIN Loans

Do I need a green card or U.S. citizenship to get a mortgage in Washington?

No. U.S. citizenship or a green card is not required to get a mortgage in Washington. Permanent resident aliens (green card holders) qualify for conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans on the same terms as U.S. citizens. Non-permanent resident aliens may qualify for conventional loans with visa documentation. ITIN and foreign national programs exist for buyers without any immigration status documentation. Different programs have different eligibility rules — the key is matching you to the right program for your immigration and financial situation.
