Getting Started & Pre-Approval

What credit score do I need to buy a home in Washington?

The minimum credit score depends on the loan type. FHA requires a 580 minimum for 3.5% down (or 500 with 10% down). Conventional loans typically want 620 or better. VA loans have no set minimum but most lenders want 580–620. USDA typically requires 640. The higher your score above the minimum, the better your rate. If your score needs work, a quick conversation can map a 60–90 day plan to get there.
